Season Caterpillar

“Each mom“Each moment of the year has its own beauty!” We divide the year into seasons and these seasons have a lot of impact on what happens on our mother Earth. It is essential for the children to understand and be able to differentiate among them, Since this is something that they will experience and dealt with. This activity is to teach kids about seasons in a visually interesting way.





Introduction:


Seasons are caused due to the Earth’s changing relationship to the Sun. The Earth travels around the Sun in an orbit, once a year or rather every 365 days. As the Earth orbits the Sun, the amount of sunlight each location on the planet Earth gets everyday changes slightly. This change causes the seasons.


Requirements:

  • Chart paper

  • Sketch Pens

  • Googly Eyes

  • Season Related Icons - Download sheet below

  • Glue

  • Scissors

Steps:

  • Draw a caterpillar on a piece of paper by drawing simple circles.

  • Make the face of the caterpillar using googly eyes and a sketch pen.

  • Print the icons sheet and cut out each icon and mix-match

  • Paste/write the season name 1 in each circle.

  • Now paste the related icons for that particular season circle.

  • Do it for all seasons.

  • Make a wall hanging

  • Download your own icons and use them

  • Draw the items you associate a season with.



Learning Opportunity:


  • Spring Season: It's the time of year when the sunlight gets stronger because the angle of the sun gets higher. Days in spring get longer, and the weather becomes warmer.

  • Summer Season: In Summer, the Sun is at its highest point in the sky and days get very warm. The weather tends to be a bit drier during this time of year, though thunderstorms can bring heavy rain.

  • Autumn Season: It is also called Fall. Red, yellow, orange and brown is the colors of the leaves before they fall to the ground. It is the time of year that transitions summer into winter. Along with the tree leaves changing color, the temperature grows colder and the daylight starts growing shorter.

  • Winter Season: It is one of the temperate seasons. During winter, places experience the shortest days and lowest temperatures.

  • Rainy Season: Rain is a type of precipitation. Precipitation is when droplets of the waterfall from the sky.
